SAP Business One Data Bridge & Live Dashboards
Live dashboards on top of SAP Business One and everything around it — strictly read-only, with nothing installed on the ERP
What they needed
An ERP holds the numbers a business runs on, and getting at them is disproportionately hard. Standard reporting is rigid, ad-hoc questions turn into a request to a consultant, and the data a business cares about is rarely in one system anyway — it is split across the ERP, a separate operational database and a third-party API. The obstacles are as much about risk as effort: nobody wants a reporting tool writing to a live ERP, finance systems tend not to tolerate anything installed alongside them, and in most deployments the B1 server is not reachable from outside the client network at all.
What we built
We built the bridge to be read-only at the architecture level rather than by policy — it issues queries and nothing else, so there is no code path by which it could modify ERP data. An explorer lets a user browse the schema, preview tables and choose what is in scope; from that selection the system generates live dashboard cards, one per table, with per-card column overrides where the default view is not the useful one. A Sales Pulse view adds SAP B1-specific reporting. Because B1 servers are typically LAN-only, the deployment model matches the constraint: for live client work the bridge runs inside the client network with credentials held locally and never leaving it, while a PIN-gated demo instance covers evaluation without touching real data. Multi-source support means a single dashboard can combine ERP tables with an operational database and a REST endpoint, which is usually where the interesting questions live. AREA KPI Technology is an independent software company and is not an SAP partner, reseller or certified implementation provider. SAP, SAP Business One and SAP HANA are trademarks of SAP SE, used here only to describe the systems we read from.
