SAP Business One Reporting & Live Dashboards

Your business already holds the numbers it needs. They sit in SAP Business One, in the operational database beside it, in a third-party system nobody wants to touch. We connect to those systems read-only and build what your team actually asks for: reports, live dashboards, and applications that show current data rather than last month's export. We never write back, and nothing gets installed on your ERP. AREA KPI Technology is an independent software company. We are not an SAP partner, reseller or certified implementation provider, and we do not sell, licence or support SAP software. We build reporting on top of the systems you already own.

Capabilities

What we deliver

Read-Only, By Architecture and by Access

We issue queries and nothing else — there is no code path by which our tooling could modify your ERP. We also ask only ever for read-only database credentials, so the restriction holds on your side of the connection too, independently of anything we claim about our software.

SAP B1 and Everything Around It

SAP Business One on SQL Server or HANA, plus the MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, and the REST APIs, that the rest of your business runs on. The useful questions almost always span more than one system, so we read from all of them together.

Live Dashboards, Not Monthly Exports

Dashboards that read current data every time they load. Choose the tables that matter, get charts generated from them, and override the columns where the default view is not the useful one.

Apps Built Around Live Data

Beyond dashboards: focused applications for the people who need one view of one thing — a sales pulse for a director, a stock position for a warehouse, an approvals queue for finance — each reading live from source.

Runs Inside Your Network

SAP B1 servers are normally reachable only on the company LAN, and that is how it should stay. We deploy inside your network so credentials and data never leave it. No VPN exposure, no copying your database to a cloud we control.

No Rip-and-Replace

We add a reporting layer beside your existing systems rather than migrating or replacing them. Your ERP stays exactly as it is, and if you stop working with us tomorrow it is entirely unaffected.

Frequently asked questions

Will this change anything in our SAP Business One system?

No. The connection is read-only at the architecture level — the tooling issues queries and has no write path at all. Nothing is installed on the B1 server, no schema is altered, and no add-on is registered. If you removed us tomorrow, your ERP would be exactly as it is today.

Our B1 server is only reachable inside the office. Is that a problem?

It is the normal case and we build for it. The reporting layer runs inside your network, so database credentials and data never leave your premises. We do not require you to expose the ERP to the internet or copy your database to our infrastructure.

Can you combine SAP B1 data with our other systems?

Yes, and this is usually where the value is. A single dashboard can read from SAP B1 alongside an operational MySQL or PostgreSQL database and a REST API from a third-party service. The questions that matter to a business rarely sit inside one system.

Can you read a specific third-party system alongside SAP Business One?

If it exposes a REST API we can issue a GET request against, or a MySQL or PostgreSQL database we can be given read-only access to, then yes. That covers most helpdesk, CRM and logistics tools, which publish REST APIs as standard. We confirm against the system's own API documentation before quoting.

How is this different from the reports SAP B1 already provides?

Built-in reporting answers the questions the ERP anticipated. This answers yours — including the ones that need data the ERP does not hold. It is also live: dashboards read current data on every load rather than being generated and emailed on a schedule.

Do we need SAP consultants involved?

Not for the reporting layer. We work from a read-only connection and your team's description of what they need to see. Because nothing is installed on the ERP and nothing is modified, there is no change to validate against your SAP support arrangement.

Whose responsibility is SAP licensing for this?

Yours — and we would rather say so at the outset than have it surface later. SAP's licensing can cover more than the people who log into SAP directly: depending on your agreement, it may also cover people who consume SAP data through another system, which SAP refers to as indirect or digital access. A reporting layer built on your SAP Business One data can fall within that. We are not an SAP partner and cannot advise on your licence position, so please confirm with SAP or your SAP partner what your agreement permits before we connect anything. We will build to whatever answer you get, and we would rather scope the work around a clear answer than assume one.

Are you an SAP partner or reseller?

No. AREA KPI Technology is an independent software company. We are not an SAP partner, reseller or certified implementation provider, and we neither sell nor licence nor support SAP software — if you need SAP licences or functional consulting, your SAP partner remains the right people for that. What we do is build reporting, dashboards and applications that read from the SAP Business One system you already own. SAP, SAP Business One and SAP HANA are trademarks of SAP SE, used here only to describe the systems we read from.

What database access do you actually need?

A read-only database user, scoped to the tables you want reported on. Nothing more. We do not ask for administrator credentials, we do not need write permissions, and we do not need access to the SAP application layer or its licensing. If your DBA prefers to restrict that user further, the reporting simply reflects whatever it can see.

Can we see it working before committing?

Yes. There is a demo instance that runs without touching any of your data, so you can see the explorer and dashboards before any connection to your systems is discussed.
